I could no longer find a word to describe the feeling I once had. The kind of feeling that only happened once in a lifetime, But you know it'll be pointless anyhow.

Suatu Ketika

– Setelah lama...

The Voice

Image
I once listened to the US Congresswomen, Ilhan Omar, said "We are not here to be silent" in response to a critic saying she's moving too fast. She added, "We are here to make a good noise." May we be the voice of those who are unheard. To each and everyone of you who have hold a public position or any position that may have impact to the society, let us use this position to channel the aspiration of people in order to make a betterment in their lives. Let us not forget those who are powerless.. Let us be the voice of a good change. Kubikku, Jakarta, 06 Mei 2019 Yours Truly, Cindhi

DEALING WITH THE DIVERSITY OF ISLAMIC TEACHINGS

The surge of Muslim-born individuals who reaffirm their faith and start actively practicing it or so-called ‘hijrah’ movement has led to an interesting social phenomena. Here, myself included. My life has changed dramatically and in the most fundamental way. It affects pretty much everything starting from fashion style, activities I join, public figures I follow, causes I care about, job options and even future plans. Basically, Islam sets out the rules applicable to every sphere of life. As I reconfirmed my faith in Islam, I began to search for guidance by learning Islamic teachings. It is inevitable that someone who believes in Allah as their One and Only God that has the right to be worshiped would want to know how to please Allah. Among other implications, worshiping Allah means that we have to abide by His rules and commands. However, an issue arises as how to choose which one to follow since there are many interpretations of Islamic teaching? How do we react to the proponent...

Build our dream BIG enough. So, it can live beyond our lifespan. That's how we pass down a LEGACY.

Freedom: Rethink

It has been a long time since I really pay attention to watch shows or commercials on TV. Then I saw this one interesting broadband commercial. It is interesting since unlike any other silly commercial, it actually has a deep meaning which tickles our mind to rethink "what does it mean to be free? what is freedom?" Does it really mean an absolute "FREE" where no boundary nor limitations to our desire to do anything. Is it really (what freedom is)? It was also become an interesting issue to discuss in my previous program, USIPP. Through USIPP, I learned that unlimited freedom to individual rights would only cost us chaotic society. There's no such a thing as absolute freedom. Human is indeed in need of rules. Otherwise, we'll go back to centuries ago when the only rule was jungle rule (those who are strong/ powerful triumphed). Surely, this would be a huge step-back to human civilitation! (Only in more modern casing). Why the idea of absolute free...

Then something struck me. To live in a society where perfection is crazily pursued, our tolerance towards mistakes or failures is generally low. Padahal kita kan memang hanya manusia biasa ya? We expect him to be mistake-free. Subhanallah. Maka ketika ia slips, rasanya hilang semua segala kebaikann...
